While the death of Cedric Diggory was sad, as he was just a teenage Hogwarts student, there was another death of a young wizard that shook up audiences even more. One of the most heartbreaking deaths in the Harry Potter franchise came when one of the Weasley children died. While Ron was safe, as one of the key protagonists and Ginny was safe, as Harry's future wife, one of the most shocking deaths was that of Fred Weasley. Fred and George were twins and were jovial wizards, more interested in their joke shop than fighting.
However, they never backed down when it came time to protect Hogwarts and Fred died in the Battle of Hogwarts when he was caught in an explosion while fighting alongside his brother Percy. Albus Dumbledore was the one character outside of Harry Potter that no one expected to die. However, when following the hero's journey, he had to die to give Harry the strength and determination to move on and defeat Lord Voldemort.
Dumbledore's death was also self-sacrifice worthy of the great wizard. Voldemort sent young Draco Malfoy to kill Dumbledore , and the great wizard knew that the young wizard had no choice. To save Draco's soul, he signaled Severus Snape to kill him, which Snape did instantly.
It was one of the most heartbreaking deaths Harry faced. For most of the Harry Potter franchise, Severus Snape seemed evil, angry, and a vindictive wizard. He treated Harry with contempt , and it seemed crazy that Dumbledore kept him teaching at the school, considering the way he handled the students. However, with His strict and ordered teaching, he made everyone better wizards. When Snape killed Dumbledore, Harry made it his mission to kill his former teacher.
However, as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows proved, Snape was working for Dumbledore all along, a wizard sent undercover to work for Voldemort and beat the Death Eaters from the inside. Snape gave his life helping to save Harry and he realized that everything Severus did was out of his love for Lily Potter. When the House Elf first appeared, he was a mischief-maker who did everything he could to make Harry's life a living hell.
However, over time, it was proven that he did it out of loyalty. When Dobby soon worked with Hermoine to help free the other House Elves from lives of servitude, it made him even more loveable in the books. While his appearances in the movies were not quite as pronounced, his arrival to save Harry and his friends and then his sacrifice and death to protect them, left no dry eyes in the theater. While Dumbledore was a depressing death for Harry Potter to face as his only real father figure, the death of Sirius Black hit him the hardest.
When Sirius first showed up in the pages of Harry Potter and the Prison of Azkaban , Harry thought the man was responsible for the death of his parents and wanted him dead. However, once he learned that Black and James were the closest of friends and Harry was Sirius's godson, the two grew close. Sadly, Sirius had to remain hidden but still watched out for Harry. When it finally looked like Harry found his family in Black, Sirius died during the Battle of the Department of Mysteries and Harry lost the closest thing to a father he ever knew.
Shawn S. Lealos is a senior writer on ScreenRant who fell in love with movies in after going to the theater to see Tim Burton's Batman as his first big screen experience. He has worked as a journalist for over 25 years, first in the world of print journalism before moving to online media as the world changed.
Instead, the film shows the Order being ambushed by dementors and then certain people make it back, with Mad-Eye not being one of them. The sudden silence and sadness that grips the rest of the group really does tell the story with this one. Remus and Tonks had a lovely relationship that had been tested more than once by Lupin's lycanthropy.
Although he was madly in love with Tonks, he didn't want to burden her with his condition and he thought she would be safer and happier without him. Tonks helped Remus believe he was worthy of love and the two eventually got married. They had a healthy son named Teddy who had no trace of Lupin's condition as a werewolf. It was gut-wrenching to see the two of them lying there during the battle of Hogwarts, side by side. The two brought so much life and love to the series, making it a difficult moment to process.
Harry considers Snape to be the bravest man he has ever known. It wasn't until The Deathly Hallows that we learned of Snape's complexities and began to see him as a misunderstood soul rather than a cartoonish villain. He is the silent hero of the entire series, always sacrificing himself for the people he is most loyal to. Even when the love of his life rejects him and goes off to marry his school bully, Snape still will do whatever it takes to try and protect her along with Harry and even James.
Snape's role as a double agent throughout the series has caused him to receive little to no sympathy despite all the sacrifices he has made. Snape's life is a tragic one, yet his legacy continues to live on.
Hedwig was Harry's best friend from the very beginning. She was there throughout Harry's best and worst moments, including the horrible times he spent alone and isolated at the Dursley's over summer break.
Hedwig represents Harry's childhood and her death is the ultimate sign of his last source of innocence being snatched away from him. Anyone who has lost a pet before knows how devastating it is to lose the creature who has been your most loyal confidante and friend. Hedwig's death is one of the hardest of all because we feel as though we have grown up with her and she is such an innocent victim. Dobby: "Such a beautiful place to be with friends Dobby is happy to be with his friend, Harry Potter.
Dobby is easily the most selfless character in the whole series. His enormous heart is what makes him so incredibly loveable and it gives fans immense joy whenever he appears on-screen.
He will do absolutely anything to provide for his friends, who he considers to be his family. It is so gut-wrenching to see his final moments, yet we know he has died doing what he loves most, which is defending Harry Potter. It is so beautiful when Harry wants to have a proper funeral for Dobby and, in the books, it is made clear that he wishes Dobby could have the kind of extravagant funeral that Dumbledore had.
Harry believes Dobby deserved that amount of respect, and we certainly do too. Fred and George are the comic relief throughout the Harry Potter series. When everything in the wizarding world gets as dark as it can possibly get, the twins are always able to provide much-needed laughter. The two understand the power of comedy amongst all of the darkness and their choice to open up a joke shop in the middle of the horror surrounding them is perhaps the most necessary relief in the entire series.
The fact that the Weasley twins represented such a positive source of light throughout all eight films is what made it so difficult for fans to grasp Fred's death.
Yall, no. Just no. Dumbledore and Snape deserved to die. Dumbledore knew that Sirius was innocent, but did nothing. He also raised Harry like a pig for slaughter. For example, he made Harry live with the Durslys who he knew were abusive, just so Harry would love the wizarding world. Snape did not love Lily… he was obsessed with Lily. He was not afraid to hurt her, or the ones she loved to get what he wanted from her.
And if you had read the books, you would know that Snape abused his position as a professor. Dumbledore also knew this, but again, did nothing. He died for Lily. He owed Dumbledore for protecting Lily. He chose to become a death eater. It was his own decision, as a grown man. He also practiced dark magic when he was younger. Do you know how many times a wizard has to use a spell for it to become their specialty?
Not the person who tortured his parents, Snape. His potions professor. He was protecting him. And Snape joined the good side because he was mad at Voldemort for killing Lilly. And he was in love with Lily because he thought he found someone who understood him. When at school he would get bullied by countless others. I rest my case. He was obsessed with Lily. His teacher. He forced students to write essays about the dangers of Werewolves in third year so that the professor, who was a Werewolf himself, could read about the horrors of his condition.
I feel very honoured that someone made this cuz i have been crying for 30 minutes after seeing this now ty for making me cry. She did. Rowling even gave this detail, but she survived the werewolf attack originally, she was seen stirring but died of her injuries. I disagree that Rowling needed to make her die, she did nothing wrong in my opinion and did not deserve that cruel and horrific death.
I would react the same way if my boyfriend and his best female friend were acting like that. It was also obvious that Hermione was jealous of Lavender when she and Ron were dating. I was sad when Dobby died because he is so kind and respectful. I also cried when Snape died because he loved Lily so much. I cried when Lily Potter died. I was so mad when Fred died! Why would she kill one of the twins?
Sirius and Lupin also got to me. I was sad Snape died too. Only cause of his love for Lily. He was kinda a bully. Actually James was the one who bullied Snape.
